Who Cares About Zacarias Moussaoui? The Media Does
How many times have we seen the picture of Zacarias Moussaoui on our television screens? One time too many, I believe. We have been subjected to this al Qaeda rejects obscenities for weeks. You would think he was Bin Laden himself. We are captivated by every outrageous utterance by this guy. And that's the way the media wants it. It isn't about learning what the terrorists were planning. It's about shock value and sensationalism. Moussaoui is enjoying a notoriety that he doesn't deserve. He is a buffoon and doesn't deserve the massive attention he is being given.
The real issue is not this punk but how the authorities failed to prevent 9/11. No one remembers Harry Samit. He was the FBI agent who arrested Mousssaoui prior to September 11th and warned his superiors 70 times about his connection to a possible terror threat. If the bureaucrats had listened to Samit no one would've ever heard about Zacarias Moussaoui. But instead we are saturated with the banal trial of a non-entity. We should be hearing instead about heroes such as Harry Samit and those who tried to save lives on 9/11 instead. The media dishonors the memories of the victims by giving Moussaoui a platform for his hate.
