Leak Points to Greater Bush Involvement

Now we have proof of what the President knew and when he knew it. Libby's testimony implicates the President in divulging classified intelligence in order to promote the administration's dubious justification for war in Iraq. Lewis Libby's revelation points to Cheney and Bush's involvement in a criminal activity that landed the formal chief of staff in hot water. If it turns out that Mr.Bush authorized the attacks on ambassador Wilson, it would be an impeachable offense.

The press for some reason is giving Libby's shocking charges little coverage. They are preoccupied with the juicier immigration issue. This could provide the necessary cover for administration to avoid an uproar. We know politicians love the cameras. And a crime isn't a crime unless the press decides to cover it. The President's likely criminal conduct should be the dominant issue. The Democrats have chosen not to vigorous pursue impeachment. They want to play politics. With the fall elections Dems believe they can gain control of Congress because of Mr.Bush's poor approval numbers. They won't even support Russ Feingold's attempt to censure the President. The Democrats, and a sympathetic press', decision to not hold the President accountable could mean Mr.Bush serves out the rest of his term. That is something we cannot tolerate if want to save our country.
