Its Open Season on our Kids
Bill O'Reilly was right tonight. Children are being terrorized in our society and we don't care. He cited the case of a Ohio judge who gave a child molester probation after he sexually assaulted small children. The stories of child abductions and abuse are a daily event. O'Reilly pointed to the lack of outrage by politicians and the general public. The case of Nixzmary Brown in NYC was a major news event. Her death at the hand of her parents under the noses of those entrusted to protect her shocked many. Now she is forgotten. Despite big talk by politicians nothing came of it. No reforms. Simarlarly, sexual predators who assault children are allowed to commit their crimes over and over again with impunity. Jessica's law was one response to pervasive child abuse in our country. Nonetheless it does very little to deal with this horrific problem.
Rapist registration laws do not address that fact sex attackers are not punished. Until Americans start to give a damn, politicians (mostly men) will do nothing. Our failure to protect our children is a moral blight on our society and explains why we are watching the decline of America. A society that does not protect its most defenseless is a nation that has lost its soul.
