Nash is Not the Most Valuable Player
There is little dispute that Steve Nash deserved to win MVP in the NBA last year. But for him to win in consecutive years is absurd. His teammate Shawn Marion did as much to help his team as did Nash. He finished 3rd in the league in rebounds and averaged more points than Nash. Marion was also fourth in the league in steals. Nash wasn't even in the top thirty. Dirk Nowitzki would've been a more logical choice. He was 7th in the league in scoring, in the top 20 in rebounds (8th in defensive rebounds), and averaged almost 50 percent in field goal percentage (shooting over 40 percent in 3-point field goals). His team also won the 3rd most games in the league this year. Tim Duncan every year does more to help his team than almost any player. He should've been given more consideration than Nash, especially since he played hurt all year.
Lebron James clearly had the better season than Nash. He had more assists as percentage of his team's total than did Nash! James also averaged 7 rebounds per game, shot 48 percent from the field. Although Nash lead the league in assists, incredibly James was twelfth in the league. He also averaged over 30 points per game. The only player that matches James totals would be Dwayne Wade. Although Wade played on a better team than did James.
