Former Bush insider, Clark Kent Ervin, has written a book, Open Target: Where America is Vulnerable to Terrorism, detailing his experience as Homeland Security inspector general and the failure of this administration to make America safer from the terrorist threat. He describes a Homeland Security head, Tom Ridge, who was more interested in muffling him than fighting terrorism. Ervin is not just some malcontent. He goes back with George Bush when he was a top aide to the former governor. And the book? ABC news reported in 2004 that Clark was fired because he...
"...made himself very unpopular by issuing a series of stinging reports on security programs that he said had failed, officials he called inept, and fraud that he suspected. His year-end report, out today, alleges that millions of dollars have been wasted or are unaccounted for by the department [Homeland Security]."
