Lobbying Reform Legislation is a "Sham"
Congressman Jim McGovern (Democrat, Massachusetts) today on Cspan blasted the House lobby reform legislation as a "joke." He called it a "sham" that would do "nothing to clean up lobbying abuses." He further went on to say that its never been as bad as it is today; we live in a "culture of corruption."
McGovern echoed a Washington Post editorial that called the legislation "snake oil." They called it an "insult" to voters whom the Republicans believe are "dumb enough" to fall for this legislation. Congress is only making minor changes to all those perks that lobbyists use to buy politicians: Skyboxes, free meals, cheap priced flights on corporate jets, gifts, etc.
