Gingrich: Israel Invasion Beginning of World War III
Newt Gingrich is right when he said on Meet The Press today that the current Israeli military action in Lebanon is the beginning of World War III. It was the worst case scenario. Israel's war machine invading an Arab nation and destroying the infrastructure and killing civilians. They used as pretext the taking of a soldier to justify the massive bombing of that country. The world has condemned the Israeli "excessive" use of force with little avail.
The Israelis say they are not interested in re-occupying a country they helped devastate years ago. Since then Lebanon had rebuilt their country only to see it once again devastated. It is exactly what the al Qaeda and the enemies of peace in that region want. The main target of the Israeli incursion, Hizbollah, are being supported by Syria and Iran. This increases the likelihood of a general war between those two countries and Israel. And lets not forget that prior to the invasion of a democratic Lebanon, Israeli forces were attacking the democratically elected Hamas-led government of the Palestinians. This undermines the repeated assertions by the Israelis that they are fighting an undemocratic enemy.
Where is Bush in all this? He, being a lackey of the neo-cons, won't intervene to stop the Israelis and their disastrous military action. It was inevitable that a major conflagration would take place in the Middle East. Despite reports that suggest Bush is using diplomacy and retreating from his shoot-first mentality. The truth is he has not abandoned the neo-con goal of destroying the "axis of evil." Bush himself is too much of a nitwit to be behind this neo-fascistic foreign policy. He is the puppet of the pro-Israel lobby in America. This President is taking us to the brink of catastrophe.
I wrote several weeks ago about the Israelis running amok. Since then things have dramatically worsened. All this is happening with the American people seemingly helpless. More Americans will have to die as they did in 1983 not for American interests but that of Israel. The Israeli ambassador to the U.S. dismissed the reference to the Washington Post article on the power of the Israeli lobby in America. And, of course, he invoked the magical anti-semitism argument. This is how they've succeeded in suppressing dissent on U.S. one-sided support for Israel. Anyone who dares to challenge that support is immediately denounced as an anti-semite. The truth is that the Israeli lobbies agenda is harmful to Israel. Not to mention the rest of the world.
