Pro-Israel Cong. Ackerman's Outrageous behavior on Cspan

Congressman Gary Ackerman, who represents New York in the House of Representatives, is also one of the most Pro-Israeli members in Congress. He is a Ranking Member of the Middle East Subcommittee. His appearance on Cspan this morning was a shocking display of the intolerance of the Israeli lobby in America.

Several callers made references to his one-sided support of Israel. His response to the callers, as in one case, was to shout them down. Ackerman was obnoxious enough to repeatedly demand that a caller answer his question or we he would "hang up" on him. He was obviously delusional enough to think that he could control the show. Only the host of Cspan can hang-up on a callers. The host was intimidated enough to request the caller answer the question that offended the Congressman. She was courageous enough to ask, in response to his dismay over the large number of callers that made "anti-semitic" comments, hadn't he been spoken to that way before - possibly making reference to his earlier appearances on Cspan. Ackerman was stopped in his tracks and reverted to his they-are-all-anti-semites line. He was somehow suggesting that the show was to blame for the callers who questioned Mr.Ackerman's obsequious pro-Israel presentation.

One caller suggested that the Congressman should be a member of the Israeli Parliament. His response was to reassert his loyalty to the United States. He could not possibly understand why someone would question his dual loyalties: They must be all anti-Semites. Ackerman was on the show to demand that Hamas jump through Israeli governments hoops, a requirement for recognizing the democratically elected organization. The Congressman, of course, had a response to the question of Hamas victory at the polls: The Nazi's were elected too.

Ackerman's behavior was symptomatic of the arrogance of the Israeli lobby in America. They have control over our government and anyone who dares question them is denounced as an anti-semite. It is that intolerance - including among supporters of militant Palestinians - that has led to terrorism in the Middle East and world wide. And it is the lack of debate over U.S. one-sided support for Israel that will insure continued terrorism.
