We Only Care if She is White and Beautiful
It is a terrible tragedy that a young woman is murdered along with her unborn child. Tragically it happens everyday; especially at the hands of a boyfriend or husband. It is a sad statement on our society. But in the eyes of the media if the woman is white and attractive her death counts for more. A case in point would be Stepha Henry. A young attractive woman with a promising future ahead of her. The only difference is she is black. Despite some coverage after her initial disappearance about a month ago, there has been nothing since. There was even a network news account of how her story was being ignored because she was not the right complexion. Despite some press recognition they continue to ignore her case while giving massive coverage to Jesse Davis:
Why can't they devote some time to Stepha rather than trying to pay Paris Hilton to talk about her jail experience? We know the answer: it's all about the ratings.
A massive search ended in sadness Saturday when authorities announced they found a body believed to be a pregnant woman who vanished from her home a week earlier. A police officer believed to be the father of the unborn child was arrested on two counts of murder. Jessie Davis, 26, who was due to deliver a baby girl on July 3, was reported missing after her mother found Davis' 2-year-old son home alone, bedroom furniture toppled and bleach spilled on the floor.
Why can't they devote some time to Stepha rather than trying to pay Paris Hilton to talk about her jail experience? We know the answer: it's all about the ratings.
