More Civilians Killed by NATO in Afghanistan

Who are we fighting over there? This is what its come to, killing civilians on a regular basis. It is exactly what the Taliban want. They know NATO inadvertent killings of the innocent will serve their propaganda interests. But why are we allowing ourselves to fall into that trap? It shows how desperate the war has become. Failure in Iraq has meant failure in Afghanistan:
U.S.-led coalition airstrikes in southern Afghanistan left at least 30 people, including women and children, killed or wounded, an official said Saturday.

Taliban fighters tried to ambush a joint U.S.-Afghan military convoy in Helmand province's Gereshk district late Friday before fleeing into a nearby village for cover, said Mohammad Hussein, the provincial police chief.

Meanwhile, losing in Afghanistan means al Qaeda continues to threaten the West:
Police mounted increased patrols in a jittery London Saturday as detectives conducted an intense hunt for a man seen running from an explosives-packed car in the heart of the city's entertainment district.

Two Mercedes loaded with gasoline, gas canisters and nails were found abandoned Friday in what police believe was an attempt to kill scores or even hundreds of people. Detectives said they were keeping an open mind about the perpetrators, but terrorism experts said the signs pointed to an al-Qaida-linked or inspired cell.
