Mexican Drug Gangs: Threat to U.S.

If it weren't hot enough on the border, now we have Mexican drug gang violence that promises to spill over into the states:
A popular singer, his manager and his driver were gunned down Saturday in an ambush after a concert in the border city of Reynosa in an apparent gangland hit, as unabated drug-related violence continued across Mexico.

***
And this is why we have the upturn in violence along the border:
The methamphetamine laboratories that once plagued California's hinterlands and powered a national explosion of drug abuse have been replaced by an increasing supply from Mexico, U.S. law enforcement officials say.

***
I like this editorial summary of Bush's historical perspective:
PRESIDENT BUSH has said many dumb things in defense of his Iraq policy. Citing the Vietnam War as a model, however, is perhaps his most ludicrous yet.
