Rumsfeld OKayed Abuses at Abu Ghraib

Just what we thought:

Outgoing Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld authorized the mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, the prison's former U.S. commander said in an interview on Saturday.

Sounds to me like a war crime. Time for Rummy to go to jail. Or better yet, what did the President know, and when did he know it. Impeachment!

Its an ominous sign for the economy:

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. predicted a rare decline in monthly sales Saturday, even as U.S. bargain-hunters jammed stores in search of gifts at the start of the crucial holiday shopping season.

Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer, sounded a cautious note for retailers as they began a second day of Thanksgiving weekend sales with deep discounts and early bird specials[...]Wal-Mart estimated that November sales fell 0.1% at its U.S. stores open at least a year — a closely watched retail measure known as same-store sales.[...]This would mark Wal-Mart's first monthly same-store sales decline since April 1996.

Whatever the circumstances, its a tragedy. It makes you wonder about our society and how irrational we've become:

Police shot three young men who had just left a bachelor party at a strip club early Saturday, killing one man on the day of his wedding, according to police and witnesses. One of the survivors was in critical condition.
