North Korean Crisis: Another Bush Diplomatic Failure
It seems no one is afraid of the U.S. anymore. Certainly not North Korea. All that the Bush bluster has given us every two-bit regime wanting to defy the President. Whether its North Korea, Iran, or Venezuela, the ranks of our enemies are growing. America seems incapable of deterring aggressive behavior.
If the North Koreans have tested a nuclear device the implications are serious. The Bush gang has made it clear that they would not tolerate a nuclear North Korea. This pushes us into a corner which could lead to miscalculation. And that could lead to World War III. The most likely scenario would be an invasion of South Korea by the North. The recent shooting along DMZ demonstrates how real that danger is.
If Bush really wants to deter North Korea, or any other potential threat, he should listen to Teddy Roosevelt, America's greatest diplomat-President: "Talk softly and carry a big stick." Stop all that trash talking; it doesn't work.
