Foley Scandal: Press Still Has Pro-Democrat Bias
House Speaker Dennis Hastert is accusing ABC of being anti-Republican for exposing the Foley scandal. This is the same ABC that was being denounced by Bill Clinton for its pro-Republican bias by making the movie "The Path to 9/11." I haven't heard Democrats complain about ABC lately.
The truth is ABC, and most of the mainstream press have a left-wing bias. The timing of the Foley disclosure is obviously done to embarrass the Republicans. If ABC were not trying to influence the election they would've waited until after the elections. They knew very well that it would be a major scandal. In addition, the media frenzy is also part of that desire to harm Republicans in the fall election. The story has just about drowned out everything else, including the Iraq War.
Don't misunderstand me, I think we need the Democrats to take control of Congress in order stop the imperial presidency of George Bush. But the notion that the press (with the exception of FOX) is neutral is nonsense. The fact that there are calls for Hastert's head is only the latest example of press negative publicity forcing powerful Republicans out of office. Remember Gingrich, Delay, and Trent Lott?
