Isn't Kow Towing to China Like Appeasing Hitler?
Apparently there is increasing - albeit minimal - concern over China's growing military influence. In the desire to gain access to China's cheap labor governments have ignored that growing threat. It is rare for any concern to be shown. There are books but only one press outlet that has warned us of the price of appeasement - Lou Dobbs.
History should teach us the futility of trying to tame a militaristic regime through trade. We tried that with Japan in the last century. And we saw what that led to. This administration has been no different than their predecessors in ignoring China's totalitarian drive to become a world power. It seems no amount of human rights abuses or threats to their nations - especially Taiwan - will change things very much. Didn't the West ignore the students fighting for freedom at Tienenman square over a decade ago? As long as big business makes profits it will be ignored. All that will change when the People's Republic invades Taiwan. Then people will wake up.
