Even the Iraqis are Happy Rumsfeld is Gone

Even the Iraqis are happy that Rumsfeld is gone:
Iraqis on Thursday cheered the resignation of U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, blaming him for policy failures and scandals they say helped spawn the daily sectarian carnage wracking their nation.

Democrats even took control of most of the Governorships:
For the first time in a dozen years, Democrats hold a majority of the nation's governorships after taking 20 of 36 races, including contests in battleground states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and Colorado that will be crucial to the 2008 presidential race.

Democrats now possess 28 of the top state jobs, the same majority enjoyed by Republicans going into Tuesday's elections.

The trade deficit dropped but not for the right reasons:
Helped by falling oil prices, America's trade deficit showed a sharp improvement in September, narrowing by the largest amount in more than five years.

However, the politically sensitive deficit with China rose to a new record of $23 billion, pushed higher by a flood of Chinese-made televisions, cell phones and toys being imported to stock American store shelves for Christmas.
