Bush: Never Mind the Facts My Mind is Made Up

The definition of stupid:
President Bush conceded Friday that "right now it's tough" for American forces in Iraq, but the White House said he would not change U.S. strategy in the face of pre-election polls that show voters are upset.

Desperate GOP trying to use bogus terror threats to survive in November:
Republicans skillfully parlayed the threat of terrorism into victories in back-to-back elections. The strategy may not be fail-safe this year.

Even Bush is starting to recognize that the Iraq War is looking a lot like the Vietnam War:
Bush, who had rejected parallels between the fighting in Iraq and the Vietnam War, reconsidered his stance in an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, saying that New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman "could be right" in comparing the violence in Baghdad to the Tet offensive. "There's certainly a stepped-up level of violence, and we're heading into an election," Bush said.

And even Bush's lackey generals are also forced to admit failure:
...Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, announced that the American-led crackdown on violence in Baghdad had failed and said U.S. commanders were consulting with the Iraqi government on a new approach.

Now even economic news is turning bad. Will the Democrats capitalize on the fact?:
The U.S. economy slowed further in the third quarter, dragged down by falling investment in homes and lower output of autos, economists said.

Al Gore might run after all:
Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner's decision to withdraw from consideration for the 2008 presidential nomination has produced speculation at high levels of the Democratic Party.
