Musharraf Blames Bhutto for Her Assassination

We know you did it. Although (If I might blow my own horn) this blog was the first to definitively argue that the government was behind the assassination:
Pakistan's President lays responsibility for the murder of Benazir Bhutto on the former prime minister's shoulders in a television interview, Sky News reported.

Pervez Musharraf said Bhutto put herself in the position to be killed in a motorcade after a campaign rally in Rawalpindi on Dec. 27.

"For standing up outside the car, I think it was she to blame alone. Nobody else. Responsibility is hers," the Sky News report quoted Musharraf as saying.

Bhutto, Musharraf's chief political rival and leader of the opposition Pakistan People's Party (PNP), was murdered while standing in a moving car with her head through the roof hatch.

Pakistan's interior ministry has said Bhutto died from a head injury sustained when a homicide bomber blew himself up near her car.

But party aides who were with her at the time of the attack say she died from a gunshot to the head. Her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, refused to allow an autopsy before she was buried.

Mr Musharraf admitted in a CBS "60 Minutes" interview that she may have been shot.
