Mattel Said to Plan 2nd Toy Recall

The gravy train is over. For years big business has outsourced with the expectation that they could maximize their profits without regard for product safety and labor rights. It is clear now that our government put little effort into inspecting imports out of for deference to business interests. Now the gross neglect has blown up in their faces. And the people of America are suffering as a result. As of yet there has not been the outrage that exists with the immigration issue. But with our food supply and the endangerment of our children's health in question, that's bound to change. In both cases the government has refused to look out for our interests in favor of cheap foreign labor:
Mattel, the world’s largest toy company, is expected as early as today to announce its second major recall in a month of defective toys that were made in China, according to people who work with the company.

What else is unsafe:
The recall could also feed growing international worries about the quality and safety of consumer products made in China.

The murderous Chinese authority, indifferent to safety, are stonewalling:
China, however, insists the vast majority of its exports are safe and of high quality. Many international toy industry officials also say that while the recalls are serious, the problem with defective toys made in China is being grossly exaggerated.

Why wasn't that done before? Why did it take this scandal for our government to take action to protect our children?:
Last month, a pair of senators from the United States even proposed new legislation that sought to ban imported children’s products from China unless they were first certified as safe.

In the meantime, you might consider not using toothpaste (just joking; but do you see my point?):
The US Food and Drug Administration has announced the worldwide recall of a Chinese-produced toothpaste often found in hotels, after tests showed some samples contained the chemical diethylene glycol, or DEG, which is used as an antifreeze.

The toothpaste, manufactured by Ming Fai Enterprises International Co and recalled by the FDA on Monday, was produced for Gilchrist Soames, a US-based provider of toiletry products for the hotel industry.
