Abbas-Olmert to Meet but Expectations Low

I've said many times before, the Israelis are not interested in serious negotiations. What they want is for the Palestinians to jump through hoops. The goal is the same: destroying Hamas:

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas are to meet on Sunday for the second time in less than a month, but with few hopes the encounter will yield a breakthrough in the stalled peace process.

Hours before the summit scheduled for 1500 GMT in Jerusalem, Olmert said Abbas had assured him that a long-awaited Palestinian national unity government would not be formed before the release of an Israeli soldier captured nearly nine months ago by Gaza militants, including Hamas's armed wing.
