Report: Pentagon Used "Dubious" Intel to Justify Iraq War

The latest and probably best evidence that the White House used bogus intelligence as a pretext to invade Iraq:
Former U.S. defense policy chief Douglas Feith developed and issued "dubious" intelligence that was used to bolster the Bush administration's case for the invasion of Iraq, a Pentagon watchdog agency said in a report to be released on Friday.

The conclusion by Feith's office that there was a "mature symbiotic relationship" between Iraq and al Qaeda was inconsistent with the view of the U.S. intelligence community, according to excerpts of the Pentagon inspector general's report released by Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

One important member of the Senate believes there was illegality here:
"The IG (inspector general) has concluded that this office was engaged in intelligence activities. The Senate Intelligence Committee was never informed of these activities," Sen. John Rockefeller of West Virginia said in a statement.

"Whether these actions were authorized or not, it appears that they were not in compliance with the law."

I think Congress needs to look into whether there was an impeachable offense.

And while they are doing that they might look into the massive scandals involving all those no-bid contracts that seem to benefit White House friends and relatives:
One of President Bush's uncles, William H.T. Bush, was among directors of a defense contractor who reaped $6 million from what federal regulators say was an illegal scheme by two executives to manipulate the timing of stock option grants, documents show.

The uncle, known as "Bucky," is the youngest brother of former President George H.W. Bush. William H.T. Bush was an outside, nonexecutive director of Engineered Support Systems Inc., a defense contractor whose profits were bolstered because of the Iraq war.
