A Modern Day Lynching in North Carolina
A grave injustice is being committed in North Carolina. And its happening in front of all to see. Three white men were accused of rape by a black woman. The parallels between this allegation and what used to happen in the old south are indeed ironic. As in the old south, a unscrupulous politician uses race to get themselves reelected. That is what we have here:
The prosecutor is guilty of piscatorial misconduct for revealing that information. So why aren't these poor men let go? Why is the case still going to trial? Where are the polticians in all this? Where is the outcry? Where are the protests? Why isn't an investigation being done to determine whether Mr.Nifong committed an ethical violation?
I was personally sickened by those so-called experts on FOX insisting that there is case. Defense attorneys are usually the ones insisting their client in innocent when all the evidence points to them. But here you have apologists for the prosecution:
Meehan withheld evidence that would've exonerated the 3 men:
[...]the head of a private DNA laboratory said under oath during court proceedings in Durham, N.C., Friday that he and Nifong agreed not to report DNA results favorable to the Duke players charged with rape, reported the News & Observer.

Brian Meehan, director of DNA Security of Burlington, said during that testimony that his lab found DNA from unidentified men in the underwear, pubic hair and rectum of the woman who said she was gang-raped at a lacrosse party in March, the News & Observer reported. Meehan said the DNA did not come from Seligmann, Finnerty or Evans [the falsely accused lacrosse players].
Meehan withheld evidence that would've exonerated the 3 men:
Meehan gave no clear answer why he didn't include the favorable evidence in his May 12 report, almost a month after Seligmann and Finnerty had been indicted. He cited concerns about the privacy of the lacrosse players, his discussions at several meetings with Nifong, and the fact that he didn’t know whose DNA it was.
Meehan admitted that his report violated his laboratory’s standards by not reporting results of all tests.
