NY Governor Wants to Give Illegal Aliens Driver's Licenses

This is what we've come to: American politicians working on behalf of non-citizens against the interests of the people whom they took an oath to defend. Is it any wonder that we are in the mess we're in? We have 2 political parties that have no loyalty to the American people and our rights:

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly believes Gov. Spitzer's plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants is a bad idea, Mayor Bloomberg revealed yesterday.

[...]Interviewer John Gambling said the mayor had "criticized" the governor - a description the mayor objected to.

"I said it's his call," Bloomberg said.

"I did talk to him and say these are our concerns . . . But it's tough enough being governor without having people criticize you."

Kelly joins a list of critics of the proposed plan - the most vocal being the New York Association of County Clerks, with members vowing mutiny if they're ordered to issue licenses to illegal immigrants, and the Conservative Party, which launched an ad campaign rapping Spitzer.

[...]Spitzer argues the policy is for the public good because it will let immigrants live normal and productive lives. Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, yesterday told The Post he finds the plan "bizarre."

"And I think that it creates a safety factor for everyone," he said, echoing concern about whether New York licenses would remain a valid form of identification for boarding planes.
