Greenspan:"Iraq War is Largely About Oil"

Finally, the truth has come out--from an impeachable source. You can't accuse Greenspan of being some Moveon.org leftwing loony. Tragically many Americans have been duped into thinking that this war was about getting rid of non-existent WMDs, fighting terrorism, and bringing democracy to the region. The story has changed repeatedly. Nonetheless, there is an inescapable reality: Iraq has oil and Bush, the oil man, wants it, along with Cheney, the Haliburton executive. Oil makes the world go round. Is it a coincidence that oil prices have skyrocketed since Bush and Cheney have been in office:

However, it is his view on the motive for the 2003 Iraq invasion that is likely to provoke the most controversy. “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,” he says.
