Iraq Green/Safe Zone Under Attack

You know its over when the ultra militarized part of Iraq, the Green Zone, is under constant attack. It is reminiscent of the final days of occupation of Saigon. Today's ABC report was very stark. At this point any Republican who still believes that we can "win" in Iraq should be considered a fool or a collaborator in Bush's fraud:

- Ten mortar rounds slammed into the U.S.-controlled Green Zone on Wednesday, killing at least two Iraqis and wounding 10 people, officials said.

- An Iraqi security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information, said two of the mortar rounds landed on a parking lot used by drivers for Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The official said one driver was killed and two others were wounded.

- A recent increase in mortar and rocket attacks on the Green Zone, which houses the U.S. Embassy and major Iraqi government offices, has raised concern, especially since they are occurring during the U.S.-led crackdown in Baghdad.
