Dems Abandon War Authority Provision on Iran
This is in effect gives the war mongering Bush the green light to attack Iran. It seems the Democrats have decided to roll over for this White House lest they seem not to be supporting the troops in Iraq:
Apparently, the Democrats can't seem to agree on a strategy on Iraq. They were given a mandate by the people to stop the war but are failing to agree on the simplest of ideas. Incredibly, Bush is getting the upper hand with the majority party despite having no leg to stand on:
Top House Democrats retreated Monday from an attempt to limit President Bush's authority for taking military action against Iran as the leadership concentrated on a looming confrontation with the White House over the Iraq war.
Officials said Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) and other members of the leadership had decided to strip from a major military spending bill a requirement for Bush to gain approval from Congress before moving against Iran.
