Robert Gates Has Become A Good Lap Dog

It didn't take long for the Bush gang to turn the new Secretary of Defense into a loyal dog, despite his promise to be independent:
Defense Secretary Robert Gates said yesterday that a congressional resolution opposing President Bush's troop buildup in Iraq undercuts U.S. commanders and "emboldens the enemy."

I wonder if Gates held his nose as he made that comment. It won't be long before we see this same Secretary appearing on our TV screens arguing that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon that they plan to use on the United States. I wonder if it ever occurs to people like Gates, whom have sold their souls to get a nice cushy job, whether repeating the same old party line is degrading. Does he stop for a second and say to himself--this is a load of crock. How can you look in the mirror and repeat a line that was discredited by the last election, by the American people. I wonder if all those things Gates said at his confirmation hearing were just a ruse to get himself confirmed (which is what I argued at the time). One thing is for sure, Gates will gone down in history as one of a series of enablers of this criminal White House, along Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice.
