Russia Won't Allow U.S. Hedgemony in Middle East
Another consequence of the neocon grand plan in Middle East is Russia's reluctance to go along. We are constantly told that America is the only super power in the world. Don't try telling that to the Russians. On the contrary, the once super power wants to restore it's place in the world under Putin. And given the poisoning of a former spy in Britain, the Russians haven't given up the tactics of the bad old days. The danger is that Bush's crusade in the Middle East could put us is direct conflict with Russia. We are in their backyard. Russia's arms deal with Iran increases dramatically the danger of confrontation between our two countries:
Russia expects the United States to explain its growing military presence in the Middle East when the countries next meet to discuss the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Russian news agencies on Saturday.
"I have seen no change in Washington's fairly aggressive rhetoric," Lavrov said. "It continues, just like its actions to increase the military presence in the region. It will be one of the questions which we want to clarify in Washington. What's it all about?"
