Experts Denounce White House Unscientific Risk Assessment
This White House can't help itself. They seem to go counter to every scientific, political, and military norm:
Just call them the flat earth society:
Throw it out:
The National Research Council (NRC) has rightly declared that a White House proposal to create a one-size-fits-all approach to agency assessments of risks is unscientific and should be withdrawn, Public Citizen said today.
Just call them the flat earth society:
“This proposed bulletin is yet another salvo in the Bush administration’s war on science and was the realization of decades of lobbying by the tobacco industry, chemical manufacturers and other corporate interests,” Shull said. “To avoid regulation of their products, they routinely attack the scientific assessments used to support regulation. This expert report couldn’t come at a better time.”
Throw it out:
When the Bush administration last year proposed a controversial revamping of the rules by which federal agencies decide whether chemicals and other products pose risks to human health, it offered to run the plan by the prestigious National Research Council.
Yesterday the White House got its response: a 324-page report that says, in no uncertain terms, "Throw it out and start all over."
The proposal by the Office of Management and Budget is "fundamentally flawed" and should be withdrawn, the report concludes.
