Draft in Disguise - Part of Bush Plan for Greater Middle East War
That is the question that CNN asked tonight. With all this talk about sending more troops to Iraq and the need for building up the number of soldiers overall, we could be seeing a creeping draft:
What is Bush planning? It can't be just for Iraq:
Bush must have something in the works. He obviously doesn't care about public opinion, his generals, or the Iraqi Study Group, whom have called for less troops, not more.
I believe he has a greater conflict planned. He wants to take on Iran and Syria. That would be the dream of the Neocons. And Bush is their pawn. They believe that the problem in Iraq is the result of Iran and Syria. Until they are destroyed there can be no victory in Iraq. This requires a greater Middle East war. The invasion of Lebanon by Israel was part of that nefarious plot. The problem was the Jewish state was thwarted by Hezbollah. Now they've had to go back to the drawing board. Also the attempt to destroy the democratically elected government of the Palestinians would be part of that general war. Hamas gets assistance from Iran. Israel and and the White House are trying to find a way to attack Iran without bringing the International community down against them. They need some kind of provocation. The current nuclear standoff between Iran and the UN doesn't seem to be enough. Russia has expressed strong opposition to any military action in dealing with Tehran obstinacy. Another terror attack would be ideal. But there is no guarantee that will happen anytime soon...or is it?
With President Bush’s declaration last week that he had asked Robert M. Gates, the new defense secretary, to work with the Joint Chiefs of Staff on a plan to expand the Army and Marine Corps, military officials have already begun to consider how to grow, by how much and how fast.
What is Bush planning? It can't be just for Iraq:
The process is expected to be gradual: Pentagon civilian officials and military officers said that few were envisioning a large, rapid growth that would require the Army to dust off emergency mobilization plans for reopening bases or drawing in National Guard equipment.
Instead, civilian and military officials said, they are drawing up tentative proposals that would make permanent the 30,000-troop temporary increase approved by Congress after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and then add 30,000 more troops to the Army over the next five years, resulting in an active-duty Army with 542,400 soldiers by 2012.
Bush must have something in the works. He obviously doesn't care about public opinion, his generals, or the Iraqi Study Group, whom have called for less troops, not more.
