Senate Voted to Give Bush Defacto Green LIght for War with Iran

This is a dark day for America...again, under this government. The Senate has betrayed our country in favor of a would be tyrant.

Here is Think Progress' take:

By a vote of 76-22, the Senate passed the Lieberman-Kyl amendment, which threatens to “combat, contain and [stop]” Iran via “military instruments.” Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) called the amendment “Cheney’s fondest pipe dream” and said it could “read as a backdoor method of gaining Congressional validation for military action.”

Hillary, the neocon, voted for the admendment. Obama did not vote. Shame.

Josh Marshall at TPM had an excellent video yesterday explaining the danger of the Kyl-Lieberman amendment that was debated on the floor of the senate yesterday. In a nutshell, the amendment would have represented a codification of the US's opposition to Iran as groundwork for military action against them in the future, just as was done with Iraq.
