Rep. Sestak On FISA: ‘We Should Have Stood Up And Said No’

The silence is deafening. There was no mention of it during the last Democratic debate. And even the pro-Democrat Blogs have essentially not spoken out. Congressional Democrats betrayed their party and their country by giving Bush a blank check to spy on Americans. They broke their promise given voters in November, which gave them control of Congress. They did it because going on vacation was more important than our liberties. Despite all the talk about the corrupt behaviour of Alberto Gonzales, now they've handed him more power. Apparently, Democrats have decided that if they can't beat Bush they will join him. They also didn't want to painted as soft on terrorism. This explains why this sinister White House lately had been talking about a imminent terror attack and how al Qaeda become resurgent. The Democrats were set up. Bush pulled another one on them:

One Congressman has spoken out. Congressman Sestak is a former military man. He knows the true danger of having handed Bush new and greater powers to spy on Americans:
How could we have not have stood up for rights of civil liberties while ensuring the proper ability to go and listen, and just stayed during the recess if necessary. And I understand that our leadership in the caucus has to worry about how the public will perceive it, but I also know this, that ultimately, we have to, as Benjamin Franklin said, be concerned that those who give up…liberty in the name security, deserve neither liberty or security. This is a time that I strongly believe, we should have stood up and said no. Attorney General Gonzales, we’re not going to let you decide the guidelines upon which you’ll listen in on Americans.
