A Few Gun Dealers Fuel Most Crimes
People are dying because a few gun dealers want to make big profits. And since the NRA has a strangle-hold on Congress nothing will be done to stop the merchants of death:
You won't hear too much about this from the politicians:
The notorious Virginia gun dealer who sold the handgun used to kill Brooklyn cop Russel Timoshenko insisted yesterday he is torn up by the hero's death.
[...]Norad, 54, a former gun dealer, was indicted in 2000 on 10 counts of selling guns without properly checking buyers' IDs. He faced up to five years in prison but pleaded guilty to a single count and was fined just $1,720.
Norad's now-shuttered firearms store, R&B Guns, was one of a "dirty dozen" gun shops that sold weapons later used in more than 15,250 crimes.
"The murder and tragedies that are spun by this store will continue for years," said Jim Kessler, author of the 2004 report "Selling Crime: A Handful of Gun Stores Fuel Criminals."
You won't hear too much about this from the politicians:
The report, released by Americans for Gun Safety, a watchdog group based in Washington, noted that 1% of the nation's weapons dealers are the source of 57% of the guns traced to crime.
[...]Experts say the reason it is so difficult to prosecute rogue firearms dealers is because of the success of the NRA.
