Surge Ploy is Working in Putting Dems on Defensive

It should be clear now what the surge was really about. The Bush administration realized they could use it as a tactic to put the new Democratic majority on the defensive. Opponents of the surge have been portrayed as wanting to undermine the troops in Iraq. If you listened to the Republicans during recent Congressional debates on the surge they shamelessly did the bidding of the Bush gang. non-binding resolutions, although passing in the House, were twisted to mean Democrats would undercut the troops in the field. In the Senate, the Republicans were able to block the vote. Its all about diversary tactics. Bush knows very well that the surge will have no military benefit:
US Senate Democrats, thwarted in their bid to force a debate on President George W. Bush's planned US troop buildup in Iraq, were expected to step up their pressure on the administration in order to force it to change its strategy in the war.

So far the charade was worked. You have irresponsible arguments like this:
Senator James Inhofe, a staunch Bush supporter from Oklahoma, charged that Democrats in reality were pursuing a "slow bleed" process to gradually reduce funding for US troops in Iraq. He called it "a slap in the face to our soldiers."
